About the Campaign
In November, 2017, a DWC team is going to Kenya to construct a water collection system and garden at Manyatta Primary School with ACCESS Kenya in Naro Maro, Kenya. Doerte will be on that team. You can help her get there. Donations of $20 CDN/USD or more are eligible for a tax receipt.
Hujambo (Hallo) dear friends – This November I’m volunteering on a humanitarian trip to Kenya with an organization called Developing World Connections (DWC). I was hoping you would help me with a small donation. Your donation will go directly toward supplies for the project and room and board for the volunteers while they are working. I’m covering the cost of my travel to get to the site.
We will be building a system to support a garden at a local school in a small market town called Naro Moru (in central Kenya) that will provide food for children who often only get one meal a day. Those children often have difficulty focussing on their studies because of hunger.
The goal is to harvest rain water to use in a garden at the school. Items used in this project will be gutters, water tanks, pipes and fittings. The school leaders want to make the lunch program self sustaining by growing their own food so that meals can be provided to all children.
DWC collaborates with a local charity called ACCESS Kenya who’s mission it is to improve education and the environment as well as water management in the community is critical to achieving this goal.
I’m very excited about the opportunity to help improve these children’s lives and hopefully to open a door for a better future through better education. This is the first time that I’m going to do anything like this so I’m going to create a photo journal documenting the project and the kids who will benefit. I hope to share it with you if you are interested.
Thank you very much for your consideration! Any little contribution will help. Donations of $20 or more qualify for a tax credit.
Asante (Thank You)!
With warm regards,
